Some of you may be asking, “Wait, what? Are you leaving the association?”
No. Serving as the President of the CSBC is a one- or two-year term, and the role does not require stepping away from any primary leadership responsibilities already held. Pastors and other leaders have historically served in this important—though not overly demanding—role. The CSBC President attends a few meetings each year and helps promote and encourage the vision of the Executive Director, currently Dr. Pete Ramirez.

Each president typically identifies a niche focus or initiative to champion. In my presidency, I will continue expanding the very gifts through which I already serve the churches of the Bridges Bay
Association—promoting, encouraging, equipping, and connecting the Mission Force to the Mission Field. I’m calling it California Connected for Greater Kingdom Collaboration.

Friends, the holidays are upon us, and we don’t need to be reminded of how dark these days can feel. The senseless killing of nationally renowned Oakland figure Coach John Beam on the campus of my alma mater, Laney College, has deeply grieved many. I call this tragedy dark because the shooter testified that he heard a voice telling him he had witchcraft on him and that the only way to release it was to kill the coach. Mental illness is real—but so is spiritual warfare.
During this holiday season and throughout the year, let the great light of Jesus shine through our lives in both word and deed. We are in the season when we remember that the Lord Jesus took on flesh in the incarnation.
Matthew, quoting Isaiah, wrote:
“The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light; and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.”
See you soon and Blessed Holidays to you all!
